Olaplex’s No.3 Hair Perfector

This formula is the holy grail of bond-building treatments. Its ability to revive my limp, tired curls never ceases to amaze me. It’s also considered the first at-home bond-repairing treatment.
The “magic” lies in its patented bond technology that, according to the brand, works at the “molecular level by rebuilding the disulfide bonds that give hair its strength.” It does it all without the help of proteins.
I apply the pre-wash repair treatment and usually leave it on for 10 minutes or longer on unwashed, towel-dried hair. I spray my hair with water until soaked, but not dripping, and slather two quarter-size amounts throughout my midlengths.
I then clip my hair up and leave it in for 10-30 minutes, although the brand recommends leaving it in for 3 minutes to see results and 10 minutes for maximum benefits.
Afterwards, my strands feel strong and ready for some “curl-ups!”
Curlsmith’s Bond Curl Rehab Salve

This pre-shampoo treatment is always stocked at my local T.J. Maxx at a discounted price. When I can’t afford Olaplex, I reach for this protein-rich product, which helps restructure damaged coils, curls, and waves.
It accomplishes this by targeting all three hair bonds (disulphide, hydrogen, and salt bonds).
Other ingredients, such as guava, kale, shiitake mushrooms, prickly pear, and pumpkin seeds, help nourish damaged and chemically-treated curls.
This reconstructor has some major slip and a fruity scent that will transport you to a Caribbean beach.
Cecred’s Reconstructing Treatment Mask

Despite debuting only two years ago, this mask is a worthy opponent to the previous treatment on this list. In fact, it has received numerous beauty awards and was even featured in the 2025 WWD 100 Greatest Hair Products of All Time list as one of the “Best Hair Products of All Time.”
Its star ingredient, the patent-pending Bioactive Keratin Ferment, is said to repair breakage after 20 minutes. The mask is formulated with antioxidants, vitamin E, and oil blends that enhance shine and seal cuticles after only one treatment, according to the brand. Its rich scent—a blend of Australian sandalwood, warm musk, jasmine, and oud—is easily my favorite of any product.
Although rich and buttery in texture, don’t mistake it for a deep conditioner. It should be applied after shampooing and BEFORE conditioning.
